Next week, IVN will launch its 2012 General Election coverage for independent voters. The Network’s focus will be on contests in which independent voters are likely to play a critical role. This includes the US Presidential race, the US Senate race in the state of Maine (where voters may be close to electing an independent US Senator), and other races that are important to independent-minded voters.

IVN's election coverage for independent voters will also cover Arizona’s Nonpartisan Open Primary initiative campaign and several ballot propositions in California. Finally, IVN will cover Congressional, State Senate, and State Assembly races in California, where Ballotpedia has noted that, thanks to the state’s new Nonpartisan Open Primary system, California has moved from being the state with the fewest competitive elections, to the state with the most competitive elections. You can see a list of the races currently on IVN’s watch list below.

IVN is a trusted source of unfiltered public policy news, information, and opinion. Contributors can access the news cycle in IVN’s “open architecture” environment as long as they adhere to the IVN Etiquette. These guidelines are designed to ensure that both contributors and readers benefit from robust and diverse content in a civil environment.

In a world in which information is instantly everywhere, IVN believes strongly in maintaining this civility and takes seriously its commitment to make sure editors do their best to enforce these simple guidelines.

IVN is deployed on a unique Internet platform that gives consumers broader and more transparent access to public policy news and information, including direct access to ballot and other election-related information, while significantly magnifying the reach of online contributors. The platform is built to accommodate the modern “reader-centric” participatory media environment.

You can follow developments on IVN.us or you can become a contributor yourself. The news platform is under rapid development, with more interactive features and capabilities being activated literally every day.

The Network’s role is not to interpret nor promote a particular viewpoint, but to provide a reasoned-based environment for sharing the broadest possible diversity of opinion and information. IVN’s audience reflects this diversity of opinion and the desire to move beyond the environment in which viewpoints are simply re-circulated amongst those who already agree with each other.

The mission of IVN.us is to raise the level of civil discourse to a place where solutions are more persuasive than talking points, and participation is not conditioned on your party affiliation.
