San Diego, CA.- In what is expected to be a very close race to replace Councilman David Alvarez, District 8 candidate Vivian Moreno has nabbed a big endorsement.

Former Councilmember Donna Frye is publicly supporting Moreno.

In a statement released by the campaign, Frye notes: “Vivian is a tireless advocate for the community of District 8 and is dedicated to making life better for everyone. She is committed to public service, focused on getting the job done and will work to ensure all members of the community have a voice.”

Other endorsements for Moreno include the aforementioned Alvarez as well as District 9 Councilmember Georgette Gomez.

Moreno was born and raised in the South Bay, and has worked as a council representative for Alvarez for the past eight years.

She is facing Antonio Martinez, a San Ysidro school board member.

Of the endorsement Moreno noted, "I have long admired Donna's commitment to open government, clean water, and fiscal responsibility. She has served as a champion of progressive policies in San Diego, ranging from enacting a living wage to passing legislation strengthening renters' rights. I share her passion for all of these issues and will fight to continue implementing policies at City Hall that improve the quality of life for residents of District 8 neighborhoods."
