San Diego, Calif.- The San Diego County Registrar of Voters has finished counting votes from the November midterm election.

County Registrar Michael Vu's office announced voter turnout totaling 66.4 percent. It marked the highest the county has seen in a midterm election since 1982.

For some perspective, voters turned out at 81.5 percent during the 2016 November Presidential election.

Highlights Included:

-New County Board of Supervisors including Nathan Fletcher, who finished with a resounding victory over Bonnie Dumanis. Fletcher received 67 percent of the vote. Jim Desmond took the District 5 seat, beating Michelle Gomez with 56 percent of the vote.

-San Diego City Council District 8 went to Vivian Moreno who beat San Ysidro school board member Antonio Martinez by 549 votes.

-It was a historically tough election for City Council incumbents. The City of San Diego has new council members for districts 2 and 4.  Former Dr. Jennifer Campbell beat incumbent Lorie Zapf in District 2 with nearly 58 percent of the vote. District 4 went to Monica Montgomery who defeated incumbent and Council President Myrtle Cole with 57 percent of the vote. The new council will be sworn in at 10 a.m. Dec. 10.

-And San Diego voters approved Measure G, the SDSU West initiative. The final tally was 54 percent yes. The SocceryCity initiative, Measure E, finished with just 32 percent voting yes.
