In the latest episode of the Forward Podcast, Forward Party Co-Founder Andrew Yang talked with Dan Osborn, an independent candidate running for US Senate who is in a statistical dead-heat with incumbent US Senator Deb Fischer going into November.

The US Senate race in Nebraska is unique because the only major party candidate on the ballot is the incumbent, giving Osborn a unique opportunity to appeal to independent voters, Democrats, and enough Republicans to win.

Yang and Osborn discuss his campaign, the state of the race, and Osborn's desire to create an independent caucus in the Senate that can bring both sides of the aisle to the table and focus on problem solving.

"Deb Fischer, my opponent, called us a political science experiment. That's exactly what this is," said Osborn. "And, guess what else is? The Constitution of the United States, the Declaration of Independence -- we're all a big political science experiment."

"The system at this point in time really needs to be challenged."

The episode's description reads:

"Meet Dan Osborn, Navy Veteran, mechanic, and labor leader who is currently running as an independent candidate for the U.S. Senate in Nebraska. Dan discusses his unique military background, experience leading the successful 2021 Kellogg’s strike in Omaha, and the motivations behind his political campaign. Dan highlights the dire need for independent voices in government and advocates for policy changes that prioritize the needs of everyday Americans. With his candidacy, he aims to bring a fresh, non-partisan perspective to Washington, emphasizing service, integrity, and pragmatic problem-solving."
